how to improve canvas rider.


1. add more vehicles to the game (all the vehicles from freerider2.org and trackmill.com)

2. make it so that people can delete their tracks if they mess up.

3. get rid of the 5 second time rule. its annoying.

4. make the scores automatically add to the track records on the tracks when the player has got all the goals. (the box that appears is annoying cuz if there is loads of checkpoints in one place just before the last star you cant press backspace cuz it just takes you back to the page you visited before and you lose all your progress in that track)
And if you die after getting a patch of checkpoints you have to hold the backspace down restart the track so its so annoying.

5. make it so we can add comments onto every track that is submitted.

6. display a top 10 scores system on every track so that we can see the top 10 players scores and not just top 5. ( or make an extra link to each track so we can see every time that has been scored on every track)

7. add a chat box or a chat channel onto every page on canvasrider.

8.make the avatar for the track separate from the name of the track because when ive set up the avatar, when you type the name of the track, you cant press any of these because it messes up the avatar for the track;

1. no. seriously, they made up 5% of the database tracks before CR
2. yes, that would be a good thing.
3. no, it prevents a lot of spam records
4. nope, it's good that you can decide if you want to save your record for a track
5. nope, it prevents a lot of spam comments. I think you should be able to comment over your database account though
6. why? 5 is enough IMO
7. would be spammed all the time, plus it's not really needed
8. I agree, that is highly annoying.

Definitely agree with 2 and 8. Even though I agree with getting rid off the 5 second time rule, it does prevent hackers (even though they can still hack it).
I also think having a chat box would be good, but it wouldn't work due to spammers. Overall some good ideas especially 8, as the amount of times my thumbnails have been ruined due to pressing the space bar and backspace buttons.

@IamRider well then there should be a back up file saved on their pc or the canvasrider database which the players can recover their tracks if they get deleted or they have lost the code for

i just save every code i have on my computer and you should be able to aswell, i have a file with nearly 70 track codes, 40% of which i have never shown or published.
is it too much to ask for you to do it yourself?

1. I say that there should be a feature when playing a difficult or regular track and you want to save your last known checkPoint so you play later instead of loosing all your progress when u exit or leave the browser. This feature would allow u to come bac to this page and continue from where u left off.
2. There should be more categories based on your rank, newbie, Jr. Artist , Artist, Senior Artist, featured, there shouldt be a rate down button because some people work hard and put a lot of effort into making a great track

I've been here a long time and i've seen most of these suggestions rejected or changed for various reasons. Vapaa hit the majority on the head there.

The 5 second rule? Honestly, tracks that aren't 5 seconds... aren't even tracks.
The comment thing is actually a very large server drain, it costs money to host stuff like this. This is one of the few websites that doesn't have a "DONATE TO THIS WEBSITE HERE"... and I think that's a very good thing that we don't rely on server hosting costs. The comments used to be on every track but then they decided they didn't like.
The rest, i won't elaborate on because vapaa already got it.

Well I know Maxime isn't Goose but.
Few months ago Scipion accidentally deleted his 1,000,000th Contest Entry on TM (it had a few thousand plays, and votes) So he asked goose if he could bring back his track and still have all those plays/votes/comments etc that it had. Goose keeps back ups of all the tracks on the DB so if anyone accidentally deletes it, or some hacker deletes it. It'll be aight since Goose has a back up.

Well I know Maxime isn't Goose but.

I would be on TM, but what Maxime lacks in programming, he makes up for in design. i feel much more secure here.

Don't get me wrong here, i'm certainly no computer expert.. and don't know anything about programming etc.. But didn't maxime solely create CR ? thats gota take some crazy programming and design skills right?

I'm not a trackmiller either so i don't know goose, but he hasn't made a more advanced version of freerider. So does that make him worse? or does he do some crazy shiz with trackmill?

Eh I think they are equal in both, Goose has made a few games plus he's making fr2 lagless now. You also gotta consider that Maxime was a co-developer, that means he didn't do it all by himself. And then again, Maxime has made other cool sites.

About the design, I would say that Maxime is better, but Canvas Rider is just plain black and white. I like how it's so organized though, but :/

I is a lot, but it's still less than what goose has done. Maxime took it out of flash and made it java/HTML5, while goose was able to keep it inside flash which is a lot harder and he makes loads of other games so it displays his better skills imo.
Maxime is better in a way because it's a lot sleeker than tm and easier to access where as i have trouble going through trackmill's pages
