Or, maybe he didnt want to start the year 2013 since 13 is the number of bad luck. So he ended 10 days before that year would start.

i think something gonna happen. i investigated, and maya indians knew, when Columbus find America, and they knew about vikings too. even vikings was borned in 2 thousand years after maya indians. and vikings was on Europian and indians in America, how did they knew about other continent?. in mayas calendar is date when Columbus goed to America but the calendar was wroted 2 thousand years before, the ships was made.

Columbus has nothing to do with the so-called 2012 "prophecy", neither do the Vikings. Neither of them had contact with the Maya civilization. My advice is don't read those world conspiracy blogs...
